Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson has paid tribute to her mother and grandmother for continually inspiring her to pursue her lifelong goals.

The 25-year-old star made her family dedication as she addressed an audience on the importance of empowering women and girls at the United Nations headquarters in New York yesterday (07MAR07), on the eve of International Women's Day (08MAR07).

Hudson, who took home the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role in DREAMGIRLS last month (FEB07), says, "One reason my dreams have been able to come true is because of the people in my life.

"They've always believed in me, and had hope for me, and loved me."
