Paris Hilton may face a startling change of lifestyle, as the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office is asking a judge to revoke the starlet's probation, which could land the tabloid queen in jail for as much as ninety days for driving with a suspended license. Los Angeles prosecutors are asking a judge to revoke Paris Hilton's probation in a reckless driving case because she violated it by driving last month with a suspended license.
The reason the action has taken this long - the violation of the probation took place last month - is that there has been an investigation to conclude if Paris Hilton is guilty of the violation or not and the prosecutors have decided that they have enough evidence to move forward and ask a judge to revoke it. The case hinges on if Paris Hilton knew that the DMV had temporarily revoked her driving privileges, because if she did, she could be in serious trouble. Nick Velasquez, the City Attorney's Office spokesman was quoted by E Online as saying that if Paris knew "that would be a potential violation of her probation."
Nick Velasquez said to E Online, about the Paris Hilton probation violation, "And we are confident that we have sufficient evidence to prove that her license was suspended and that she knowledge of it at the time."
There will be a hearing in the case against Paris Hilton on April 17th, but the starlet may or may not attend.
On February 27th, Paris Hilton was pulled over after driving her blue Bentley with no headlights on at night. The officers noted that Paris had a suspended license and Hilton was cited and her 2007 Bentley Continental GTC was impounded. Elliott Mintz, the publicist for Paris Hilton, claimed that his client asked if her license was suspended after she was cited, indicating that she didn't know. He claimed that neither he nor Paris Hilton knew that her license was suspended.
Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff Oscar Butao told The New York Post at the time, "Ms. Hilton was very cooperative. She was driving on a suspended license, and we impounded her car. There was no drugs, no alcohol involved at all."
On Thursday, Elliott Mintz told the press about the possible violation, as quoted by Playfuls.com, "The situation is being handled by Paris' attorney. It would be inappropriate for us to say anything further at this time."
In January, Paris Hilton was sentenced to three years probation and required to attend an alcohol program after pleading guilty to drunk driving last September. At the time, she had to pay $1,500 in fines and her license was temporarily suspended. In that incident, Paris Hilton was driving her Mercedes McLaren SLR erratically just after midnight and blew a .08, the minimum level for a charge in California. Paris Hilton pleaded guilty on January 22nd and allegedly violated her probation on February 27th. April 17th could be a big day in the life of Paris Hilton and the day that a judge determines the celebrity magnet will have to do jail time.
