As the accusations against Howard K. Stern continue to mount, the lawyer and boyfriend of the former Playboy playmate Anna Nicole Smith has maintained he tried to help Anna Nicole in her final hours. Howard K. Stern has insisted that he tried to take Anna Nicole Smith to the hospital, but Smith didn't want to create a "media frenzy" by checking into a a health care facility.
Howard K. Stern has insisted that Anna Nicole Smith would still be alive today if she had simply accepted his offer to take the ailing blonde beauty to the hospital shortly before her death. Howard K. Stern released a statement late Monday in which he indicated friends and colleagues of Anna Nicole Smith had similarly urged the TrimSpa model to check herself into a Florida hospital after her temperature rapidly increased. However, citing the "media frenzy" that Smith insisted would follow, she simply chose to try to sleep off her fever.
The recent statement from Howard K. Stern came shortly after Broward County Medical Examiner Dr. Joshua Perper announced the findings of his autopsy on Anna Nicole Smith. Perper revealed that Anna Nicole Smith had accidentally overdosed on at least nine different prescription drugs after enduring a painful last few days. Anna Nicole Smith had been suffering from a stomach flu and a 105-degree fever before she was discovered unconscious and unresponsive in the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Dr. Perper issued a detailed medical report into the cause of death of Anna Nicole Smith, who passed away on Feb. 8. Anna Nicole Smith had been taking large amounts of chloral hydrate, a sedative that reacted with the other drugs in her system, triggering the overdose. The Seminole Police also issued their report in the death of Anna Nicole Smith, saying that while they discovered pill bottles, soda cans, SlimFast, nicotine gum and Tamiflu tablets in Smith's hotel room, there were no signs of foul play. Police also ruled out suicide as the drugs taken by Anna Nicole Smith were not lethal on their own. It was more likely that Anna Nicole didn't know the chloral hydrate would cause a fatal reaction with her other prescription medication.
Rumors have surfaced that point the finger at Howard K. Stern for the death of Anna Nicole Smith, as well as the death of Smith's son, Daniel, who died in his mother's hospital room in the Bahamas after visiting Anna Nicole Smith and his newborn sister, Dannielynn. However, CBS News quoted defense attorney Roy Black who said there are no signs Howard K. Stern did anything inappropriate. "I think that the medical examiner's report, the press conference by the police chief, have given Howard (K.) Stern a clean bill of health here,"
A Bahamian inquiry into the death of Daniel Smith began on Wednesday, though it was cut short as lawyers raised objections to the jury selection process.
