With her time spent in front of the camera on The Simple Life, and with so many rumors floating around about the health of Nicole Richie, the one-time BFF of Paris Hilton is constantly under the scrutiny of the public. Whether its in front of the paparazzi or while filming the new series of The Simple Life, Nicole Richie can't escape the public eye, and while many think that dealing with reporters must be the hardest part of her job, it seems filming The Simple Life has finally caught up to the daughter of crooner Lionel Richie.
While working on The Simple Life on Friday, Nicole Richie reportedly fell ill and had to be taken to a nearby hospital after being examined by a doctor on the set of the reality TV series.
After being diagnosed with a case of dehydration, Nicole Richie was given intravenous fluids and was released from hospital just 15 minutes after being admitted, according to E Online. E Online quoted a statement released from Nicole Richie's rep, that said, "Nicole is home resting and will return to work this evening," adding, ""We are proud of the weight that Nicole is gaining and her focus on her health."
The second half of that statement made by Richie's rep is in reference to an incident last year. In October 2006, Nicole Richie announced tot he world that she was undergoing a special diagnostic treatment in order to determine why the socialite was having such a difficult time putting on and keeping weight. The official statement from Richie's rep was that Nicole was focusing on proper nutrition and that she had the determination "achieve this goal in a healthy way." Richie, who is said to have weighed less than 90 pounds at one point, was at the center of various rumors that indicated she may have had surgery to lose weight, then needed to have the procedure reversed, though that rumor was never corroborated.
With her health concern taken care of, Nicole Richie can focus on filming the fifth season of The Simple Life, which features she and fellow socialite Paris Hilton working as camp counselors. But while Richie films The Simple Life, she still has to deal with her recent DUI charge, stemming from an incident in December 2006 where Richie was seen driving the wrong way down a California highway. As Richie faces the new DUI charge, a prior conviction for DUI from 2003 means that Richie could face between 90 days and one year in jail, a fine of up to $1,000 and a suspension of driving privileges.
