While Pete Doherty continues to try to cope with his habitual drug problem, it seems on-again, off-again girlfriend Kate Moss is ready to stand by her man. Despite having broken up with Pete Doherty over drugs in the past, and in spite of recent reports indicating Doherty has yet to shake his drug habit, reports have surfaced that Kate Moss and Pete Doherty are ser to marry in the hear future, and they already have their best man picked out.
Following the NME Awards, which took place on March 1, Kate Moss was quoted by MTV.uk as saying, "I just want to be with my boyfriend. He's wild, crazy, but he's cool." Following that, Pete Doherty added that, "We want a special wedding and we don't want to do it here, there's too much sh*t here. Somewhere small and out of the way would be cool. We can't wait, it will be beautiful."
While the tabloids have been relentless with their coverage of the celebrity couple, Kate Moss has said the couple's life is nowhere near as wild and crazy as the headlines indicate. On top of that, Moss has said that once the couple is married, their partying ways will be left behind and the couple will settle down. Kate Moss told the News of the World that, "I can't understand all in the interest in us any more. I'd rather be at home with him. We don't go out much."
With the wedding of Kate Moss and Pete Doherty in the works, rumors indicate that Pete Doherty has asked his former Libertines bandmate Carl Barat to be his best man when the couple are married. Doherty and Barat had a falling out of sorts in 2004 when Pete Doherty quit The Libertines in order to start his own band, Babyshambles. Carl Barat, who has since moved on to front the band, Dirty Pretty Things, agreed to the request despite the fact that he and Doherty have not spoken much since Doherty left The Libertines.
Carl Barat was quoted by the Irish Examiner as he said that he and Pete Doherty, "had a heart-to-heart the other day and at the end of the conversation, Pete asked me if I'd be up for being his best man." Carl Barat also said that, "He told me he and Kate were desperate to marry… I was shocked but delighted. I'm really touched that after all we've been through together we could finally put it all behind us and move on."
But while the plans are in the works for a wedding, Pete Doherty still has one major obstacle in the way of his dream wedding: his criminal record. MTV.uk quoted the Babyshambles singer, who said, "We can't get married thanks to the police f*ckers. We want to do it away, a special wedding somewhere miles from anywhere and everyone, but the f*cking police have taken away my f*cking passport."
