BASIC INSTINCT star Sharon Stone knew she was had to shoot a racy scene in the film without underwear and even gave the director her panties as a souvenir.

The actress has said she was shocked when the film came out and she was seen onscreen crossing her legs without anything underneath her dress.

The film's director, PAUL VERHOEVEN slams the claims telling , "Sharon Stone gave me her panties as a present before we did the famous (crotch) shot."

Verhoeven also says Stone "had approved the storyboards, even though she later acted surprised by what made it into the movie."
