After the unusual and sometimes frightening behavior of his ex-wife, the ex-husband of Britney Spears, Kevin Federline, is demanding an immediate, emergency custody hearing to determine who is going to take care of their children, Jayden James and Sean Preston. According to Monsters and Critics, Kevin Federline and his attorney will be in a Los Angeles courthouse soon for an emergency hearing regarding the custody of the five month-old and seventeen month-old. It's unclear but possible that Federline will demand full custody and that's what some news services, including WGN, are reporting will happen.
So, will Britney Spears be there to answer to the custody claim? It doesn't look like she will be there yet but she may be ordered to appear at a later date with the children. Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini told the press, "Our best information is he will be here, she won't. But anything is possible."
Kevin Federline and Britney Spears have joint custody until the end of the month under a temporary court order issued on February 1st, but the spokesman told the press that K-Fed is ready to argue that the matter of custody needs to be decided now and is urgent enough to be fast-tracked.
Kevin Federline will probably point to recent behavior by the "Toxic" singer, including her trip this week in and out of the Promises rehab center in California and the same behavior last week at Eric Clapton's Crossroads center in Antigua. Both times, Britney Spears jumped in and out of rehab. In between the trips, Britney Spears went to a salon in Tarzana, California, and shaved her head. Other recent behavior, including crying in her limousine for ten minutes before the head shaving, has caused many to question Britney's emotional stability and her ability to take care of her children.
According to M&C, Britney Spears met with Blair Berk yesterday. Berk is the prominent criminal defense attorney who has most recently represented Mel Gibson in his high profile drunk driving case, Lindsay Lohan, and Halle Berry.
Us Weekly has a feature this week about how Britney Spears takes care of her two kids. One source tells the magazine that "The agency that called me emphasized that Britney was looking for a nanny who was young and hip because she wanted her to interact with people her own age. Basically, Britney wanted a friend." Another source tells Us, "She doesn't like it when Sean prefers the nanny, so she fires them and looks for a new one."
Where are the kids now? The New York Daily News spoke to a friend of the Spears family who tells them that Sean Preston and Jayden James are in Los Angeles with family members and that visits with Kevin Federline have been going as planned. TMZ reports that the hotline for protective child services in Los Angeles has been ringing non-stop with people questioning how Britney Spears could possibly be caring for her two young sons. Of course, the agency won't comment on that rumor.
The center where Britney Spears stopped by for an overnight this week has finally spoken out with Promises CEO Richard Rogg telling People magazine that only a handful of people have ever left the center this quickly. "If she comes back for treatment, Promises will have to assess the situation. Sometimes people come back, but it doesn't look good."
New reports have surfaced that after Brit-Brit left Promises, she was spotted (back in the blonde wig) checking out a swanky apartment complex called the Shoreham Towers in a silver sedan. She was reportedly looking at apartments with her dog Bit Bit.
Finally, the hair of Britney Spears still remains in the care of Esther Tognozzi, owner of Esther's Hair Studio, who is selling it online for more than $1 million, part of which will go to charity. She told the BBC, "We have received many offers and we are currently in the process of separating the real ones from the bogus ones."
