Oops, she did it again. Britney Spears, the troubled, bald singer/actress who has been at the center of headlines revolving around everything from her tattoos to her heated custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, popped in and out of rehab for the second time in the last week. According to E Online, who confirmed the information through a source, Britney Spears checked into the Promises treatment center in Malibu, California on Monday and was back on the street 24 hours later.
This story comes on the heels of Britney jumping into Eric Clapton's Crossroad Center in Antigua last week for just a day before leaving again. Maybe she hasn't found the right rehab center for her needs.
After her last reported trip into rehab, Britney Spears ran through a Miami airport, jumped on a plane, flew to LA, was seen crying in her limousine, and shaved her own head in the back of a Tarzana salon. What could she possibly follow up that breakdown with this time out of rehab? Only time will tell.
E is reporting that Britney Spears was out on the club scene over the weekend with a blonde wig covering her newly shaved head and that she went and gave rehab a try on Monday after her family urged her to do so. The average stay at the Promises center is 45 days. The singer of "Toxic" and mother of Jayden James and Sean Preston didn't make it 45 hours in Promises.
Larry Rudolph confirmed to E! News on Tuesday that the 25 year-old Brit-Brit had voluntarily gone into rehab and was ready to begin the next, bald phase of her recovery. "We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time."
That didn't work. Paparazzi caught pictures of Britney Spears taking a smoke break within the Promises grounds and they were up online by Tuesday afternoon. That's apparently what set Britney Spears off and forced her to leave Promises, concerned that she wouldn't have the privacy she needs to recover. If Britney Spears can find a more secluded rehab center, away from the prying eye of the public, remains to be seen.
According to Sky News, Eddie Michaels, who spoke on behalf of Promises, wouldn't confirm that Britney Spears had ever checked in or out. TMZ reports that Britney Spears called a car service that was seen picking her up in front of Promises today.
Britney Spears friends and family aren't too happy about the second dip in and out of rehab, something Britney clearly needs to commit to. A family friend tells E!, "Everyone in the family is crying and beside themselves. To say that the family is devastated is beyond an understatement. Nobody knows what to do."
Apparently, Britney Spears is almost on the run from those friends and family members that are concerned, with reports surfacing that she's actually changing her cell phone numbers on a weekly basis.
Where are the kids in all this rehab-hopping and head-shaving? Rudolph would only tell People, "The kids are being well taken care of." Kevin Federline and Britney Spears have a temporary custody agreement where Britney has primary custody of the children and Kevin only has visitation rights. Stories surfaced yesterday that part of the reason that Britney may be in the middle of an emotional breakdown is that Spears is concerned that Federline might get Sean Preston and Jayden James in the custody battle.
A source tells People that Kevin Federline won't use the latest Britney Spears antics to get the kids and that he's actually more worried about the singer's well-being. "Kevin wanted her to get help so she could be a good mother for their kids and not end up dead. He just couldn't take it anymore. He was desperate for her to get help."
