After exhibiting some extremely bizarre behavior in the past few days, Britney Spears has checked herself into rehab for the second time in a week. Last week, Britney Spears reportedly checked into Eric Clapton's Crossroads rehab facility in Antigua, only to check out one day later. Then, on the weekend, Britney Spears decided to shave her own head at a Los Angeles hair salon, and now she has decided to try a second stint in rehab.

While Larry Rudolph, the publicist for Britney Spears, did not acknowledge the "Toxic" singer's first trip a rehab facility, Rudolph did confirm on Tuesday that Spears has sought help. Reuters quoted the statement delivered by Larry Rudolph. "Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed rehab facility today." The statement continued, "We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those (privacy concerns) of her family and friends at this time."

Though the statement did confirm that Spears was seeking treatment, Larry Rudolph made no mention of where the rehab facility was, though TMZ has since reported that Britney Spears has checked into the Promises treatment center in Malibu. As well, the statement by Rudolph did not indicate what type of treatment Britney Spears would be seeking at the rehab facility, though both People magazine and TMZ are reporting that Spears checked into rehab at the urging of family and friends.

Felicia Culotta, a friend and former assistant for Spears, posted a letter on her blog last week which expressed her desire to see Britney get help. "There's only so much you can do to help. I cannot convince her to love herself. I cannot save her from herself, nor can I commit her to treatment program against her wishes. I am throwing my hands up and realizing I am helpless." Yesterday, Britney Spears' mother, Lynne Spears, appeared on Access Hollywood sobbing, saying that, "we love our daughter."

Britney Spears announced her separation from husband Kevin Federline in November of last year, and since that time, Spears, the mother of 1-year-old Sean Preston Federline and 5-month-old Jayden James Federline, has been spotted on the party circuit with socialite Paris Hilton. As her partying continued, Britney Spears has exhibited some increasingly sloppy behavior. Paparazzi managed to snap pictures of the singer without any underwear on as Spears was getting into Paris Hilton's vehicle. More recently, Spears was reportedly checked into a rehab facility in Antigua for just one day before returning to the United States.

Just before this weekend, photogs managed to take pictures of Britney Spears as she shaved her head bald, sparking headlines around the world. The head shaving incident was followed up by Spears heading into a tattoo parlor to get a series of smaller tattoos, then on Sunday, Britney was spotted heading into a West Hollywood night club wearing a blonde wig. Though Britney Spears has been seeking a return to her former glory that includes selling more than 70 million albums worldwide, Britney chose to check into a rehab facility, putting her musical comeback in question.
